Baseball

March 24th was Derrick's first baseball game with the Desert Ridge Little League.  His team is the Ironbirds.  He is really enjoying it.  His first game he hit 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Not bad!  But he also let 2 balls roll right past him in the outfield!  He has a lot to learn!  I feel like it has taken over our lives with 2 games a week and usually 2 practices.  Jon gets easily frustrated watching these 6 and 7 year old kids trying to play baseball.  :)  But they have to start somewhere!  Hopefully with some practice Derrick will pick up the game a little better.  But for now at least he enjoys it!

Derrick Turns 6

On March 23rd Derrick turned 6.  It's hard to believe he is that old.  He is our more challenging kid, but we love him all the same! :)  He's a good boy!  He was lucky enough to have a field trip to Stuffington Bear Factory on his birthday.  He came home with a red bear he named "Beary".  He also got a giant pixie stick from his teacher.  Grandma Trafzer came over that day to visit with me and Grace and brought Derrick his present, a Mario Baseball game for the Wii.  He loves it!  I slacked off and didn't make him a cake but he chose to go to In N Out for dinner so we let him blow out a candle on his hamburger.  He was happy with that and a birthday milkshake!  A week later we had dinner at Jeni's house and Grandma Clark made him a cake.  When asked what kind of cake he wanted he answered rainbow.  So rainbow he got, even though his dad was less than thrilled with his choice.  :)  Happy birthday to our energetic boy!  We sure love you!

Gracie Girl in March

Here are a few pictures of Grace in March.  At exactly 2 weeks she found her voice and decided she was going to be a fussy baby for the weekend.  She had her 2 week check up on March 19 and the doctor didn't seem too concerned with her fussiness.  She was just adjusting to the world.  You forget these things after 6 years! :)  But she quickly readjusted and remembered she was a good baby.  At her 2 week check up she weighed 6 lbs 15 oz.  The doctor was slightly concerned and wanted us to go back in a week for a weight check.  The goal was for her to gain 2/3 of an ounce a day.  One week later she weighed 8 lbs!  She's fine! :)  Her sleep habits have been great only waking up once in the middle of the night.  Her daytime naps could use some work though!  She likes to cat nap.  Every once in a while she will sleep for an hour or more and that is good for her.  Her fussy time is in the evening between 7:30-9.  Without fail every night she fusses during that time and fights going to sleep.  She doesn't really care for her pacifier (she'll take it every once in a while but mostly just wants it to play with) and she hates her swing.  I'm amazed there is a picture of her sleeping in it.  She usually just screams when we try to put her in it.  Jon had a business trip at the end of March.  I dreaded it, but all went well.  Grace even started smiling a bit while he was gone.  I think that was my blessing for playing single mom for 4 days!

Grace's first bath.  Her cord finally fell off after 11 days

Hanging out watching t.v. with the kids

Derrick loves his little sister, but only wants to hold her for about a minute at a time!

It's been fun playing dress up

Ready for a walk on a cold morning

She looks like she's singing

A resemblance of a smile at 3 weeks

She really likes laying in her boppy pillow and often falls asleep in it

Crazy Hair Day

Even with a one week old baby I managed to get the kids off to school for Crazy Hair Day.  I put styrofoam in Emma's hair and she thought it was so funny.  Derrick was sad because his friends told him his hair looked normal.  Not a lot to do with a boy's hair.  But I had fun creating!

Grace's 1st Week

Grace's first week went well.  She is such a good baby.  She eats and sleeps well and never cries.  The kids love her!  Her and I have been sleeping in the family room but she will soon move into the salon temporarily and I can start sleeping in my bad again.  Grace looks so much like Derrick and he loves that.  I couldn't believe it when I found her sleeping just like her brother did when he was a baby.  The side by side comparison is unreal.  We sure love our baby girl!
