Easter Egg Hunt!

This year was Emma's first Easter egg hunt! Last year I waited until the last minute to find plastic eggs and could not find them anywhere! So, this year I prepared early! She had fun and was even more excited when I showed her there was candy in the eggs!

Decorating Easter Eggs!

Emma loved coloring Easter eggs! I bought a Princess decorating kit and she covered her eggs with stickers! Most of them cracked while she was decorating them, but that's ok...(we weren't going to eat them anyway...YUCK!) Derrick kept smiling in the background everytime I would take a picture of Emma, so here he is saying "hi"!

Happy 1st Birthday Derrick!

These are just some pictures of Derrick and Emma on Derrick's actual birthday ( the 23rd)! You can see in the first one that he finally got teeth before he turned 1...I was getting a little worried! The kids were just laughing and laughing because Derrick kept falling on Emma when I was trying to take a picture of them together! (I never did get one where they were both looking at the camera!) The last picture is Emma playing with all the Army guys that I got to put on Derrick's cake! She thought it was great fun to line them all up and also to make them play "Ring around the Rosie"! 

Presents!

Derrick got a lot of presents...mostly toys of course!! I'm sure he will stay busy for a while once I actually open all of them! (Which I am dreading...they make it so hard with all the plastic and twist-ties and cardboard...ugh!) He wasn't too enthusiastic about any one thing, but I'm sure once he starts playing with them he will love all of them! If not, I know Emma will...she was more excited than Derrick! 

The Camo Cake!!

Thank goodness Grandma Clark is here because my cake would have never looked this good!! So, thanks mom!! We had a camoflauge themed party because when Derrick was first born his Grandma and Grandpa Brenay brought over plates, napkins, cups, decorations...everything camoflauge and said it was for his 1st birthday! It looked so good!! Everything came out perfect! 

Derrick would not look at the cake when we were singing to him! He was too distracted by everyone staring at him and singing! We tried to get him to grab the cake and all he wanted was an army guy off the side! I served him his piece on a plate but that didn't last long! 

He just kept taking very small bites and by the end of the night he was staring off into space with his fingers in his mouth!! He was a little tired and went right to sleep when I laid him in bed! It was a fun birthday...I can't believe my baby is 1!!! 

A Kid Free Weekend!!!

Jon and I just had a fun weekend with no kids! Emma and Derrick got to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Clark while Jon and I went to L.A. Jon left on Tuesday for work and I met him there on Friday and we came home Sunday morning! It was very refreshing and I only shed a few tears saying good-bye to Derrick! On Friday night we went to Santa Monica and walked on the pier and rode the Ferris Wheel! Then we went to eat at The Chart House on the marina and headed over the the Los Angeles Temple and walked around! It was neat to see the temple my parents were married in...it was beautiful! Saturday we went to Magic Mountain! It's not quite the same as you get older! It was still a ton of fun, but we were tired and sore after about 5 hours!! It was good to get away for a couple days...Thanks Mom and Dad for allowing us the opportunity!! 

San Diego Trip!!

We just got back from a much needed vacation in San Diego!! It was so much fun!! We went with Jami and his family and my parents! Emma absolutley LOVED the beach! She had no fear! The water was freezing but she didn't seem to mind! It was fun to watch her try and jump when the waves came and run away from the tide! We were there for 5 days and packed a lot in! The kids were so good the whole time we were there, but now that we are home... it's a different story! :) Just getting readjusted! And Derrick is sick, so that doesn't help! But, I feel renewed and it gives me hope that family vacations won't be so hard after all!! :)
