New Year's Eve!

Happy New Year to all! This New Year's Eve we went over to Jon's brother's house and had a night of dinner and fun with the family. It was me, Jon and the kids, Jon's brother Ron, Jon's brother Kevin and his wife Stevi, Stevi's parents and Jon's parents. Stevi and Kevin were kind enough to offer their room to the kids for the night. They were very excited to sit on the big bed and watch movies. Well, here comes the brilliant idea. (WARNING---bad parent alert!!) Jon told the kids they could stay up until midnight...I agreed thinking they would NEVER make it! Guess what?! To everyone's amazement and shock our 2 and 4 year old stayed up until midnight!! I could not believe it! They were so determined! They watched 3 movies without falling asleep! It goes to show that our kids are not the type to fall asleep to a movie! Emma was definitely starting to fade by midnight, but Derrick was ready to stay awake all night! You can see in the pictures Emma is a little sleepy, as you would expect a 4 year old to be at midnight...but Derrick was doing somersaults come midnight and was very bright-eyed! CRAZY! In case you are wondering...we got our reward for letting them stay up. That night Derrick really was up almost all night. I was in his room at least 3-4 times between 1:30 and 5am. He was just crying and whining. I'm sure he was overly stimulated and tired! We learned our lesson and will not tell the kids they can stay up next year! Happy New Year! And thanks to Kevin and Stevi for hosting a fun night!
